Placing a client in shared or sober living in Los Angeles? Here is how referrals to Wellness Housing work, what we accept, and how fast we can move.
You have a client who needs a bed. Probably this week. Possibly today.
So you start calling. And you already know how most of those calls go. Voicemail. A waitlist with no number attached to it. Someone who says they will call you back and does not. Meanwhile your client is waiting, and the window you had to place them is closing.
We would like to be the easy call on that list. So here is exactly what happens when you dial our number.
What we can tell you in one phone call
No forms first, no portal, no callback queue. On the first call you will find out:
- Whether we have a bed open right now, and at which house
- What the weekly rate is
- Whether your client is a fit, honestly, including when they are not
- When they could tour and when they could move in
If we are full, we will say we are full. You do not have the time to chase a maybe.
What we accept, and what we do not need
We accept General Relief through DPSS, and we work with other forms of third party assistance. About half of our residents pay that way and about half pay out of pocket. Either is normal here.
What we do not ask for:
- No credit check
- No security deposit
- No lease term locking your client in
That matters for placement speed. The two things that most often stall a housing placement are a deposit your client cannot produce and a credit history they cannot change. Neither one is a barrier here.
Who this works for, and who it does not
We are shared and sober living. We are not detox, not inpatient treatment, and not emergency shelter. There is no clinical staff on site.
The clients who do well here are adults who are stable and self-sufficient, able to manage their own day, and looking for a clean, quiet, substance-free place to live while they get their footing back. If that is your client, we are a strong fit. If they need a higher level of care first, we will tell you that on the call rather than set everyone up for a placement that breaks in week two.
The house rules, up front
Worth passing to your client before they arrive, because surprises on day one are what unravel a placement:
- No alcohol and no substances
- No pets
- Single adults only
- Headphones for music and TV, out of respect for everyone else in the house
Simple rules, held consistently. That consistency is the whole reason the houses stay calm.
To be clear about what we offer: we rent beds in shared rooms, not private rooms. Every resident has a roommate, and that is what keeps the cost as low as it is.
